Order Up!

When and how will my order arrive?

Check out our order form for our best harvest approximations. Herbs ship throughout the growing season.

For Dried herbs we ship on a rolling basis once we fill our standard large box. If your total order does not fill this box we will wait to ship until we have harvested all your herbs. But if you know you want something earlier in the season before everything is done we can break it up. Example- You order chamomile, burdock root, ashwagandha root. We will hold the chamomile from June when we harvest it until October when we finish the roots. But if you want the chamomile sooner just let us know. Leave us a note in your order form (e.g. “send monthly” or “send chamomile asap”), or check in along the way. If you have a special way/schedule for how you need your herbs to arrive please let us know – vacation dates, signature required, etc.

For Fresh herbs, we pack multiple fresh herbs into single shipments when it is an option, but this is often not possible.

Shipping

Dried herbs ship USPS or UPS Ground. We will also use FedEx for larger shipments at our discretion.

Fresh herbs ship UPS Next Day Air or UPS Ground in the cooler seasons for less sensitive crops. We ship with ice packs. We only guarantee quality on overnight shipping. But if you want to risk Ground or 2 Day we are happy to oblige, leave us a note. Many have used these with success. However, you are responsible to cover the cost of replacing a delayed package when shipping with Ground for fresh orders. Overnight shipping can cost 1-3x the cost of your order! Each shipment of fresh herbs carries a $5 packaging cost additional to the cost of shipping. We do our best to combine multiple species into one shipment.

We recycle and reuse all packaging (except what your herbs actually touch). Please recycle or re-use whatever you receive from us!

We check in a few days before your order ships, dried and fresh. Please be responsive so we don’t have to hound ya. We do not ship without confirmation and poor communication could lead to loss of opportunity to get your goods.

Typically, we ship fresh and dry orders separately to save costs on shipping, even when both ship the same day. We work hard to find the cheapest option that won’t sacrifice quality. We ship fresh orders Monday-Wednesday so they don’t get stuck somewhere over a weekend. We ship once per week.

Pickups

We will contact you when your order is ready and to make arrangements for pickup.

Contact

Please leave us a phone number so that FedEx can be a shipping option. On your form be sure to indicate the best way to contact you– call, email, text. We will not ship fresh without confirmation, so choose wisely, young Padawan.

Payment

You can either pay in full, or pay 50% of your order at the time of sign up. We will invoice the remaining balance once 50% of your order has been harvested/fulfilled. If this is a financial/cashflow hardship please contact us to set up a payment plan. For larger orders (single species over 10 lb fresh or 20 lb dried) contact us to establish terms.

Options – ACH, Check, Venmo: goldenhourfarm, Paypal: goldenhourfarm616@gmail.com – payments for pre-order made with Paypal incur a 3% convenience fee.

 Refunds & Return Policy

There are no returns on herb orders. If an order arrives damaged you must let us know within 24 hours of receiving it. Take pictures! For any errors on our part or the carrier, we always replace packages at no cost to you.

For any herb shortages for pre-payment orders, appropriate refunds or exchanges will be made.

Your Herbs

We do everything in our power to ensure you get the highest quality herbs possible.

We lightly wash roots to remove excess soil, but soil gets compacted into twisty roots (e.g. Echinacea, Ashwagandha). We don’t cut them apart to wash them. You will want to cut them and wash them more thoroughly to remove soil. Soaking roots in water begins a cold infusion process thus removing some medicinal constituents- so go quick!

We don’t wash other leafy herbs or flowers for fresh orders as it degrades quality. We don’t recommend you wash anything that contains aromatic oils as it will degrade in quality. We time our harvest so that it minimizes any soil on plants from rain splash, but trace amounts of soil on fuzzy leaves like Mullein, Tulsi or Boneset is unavoidable.

We recommend processing your fresh herbs within 24 hours after you receive them for optimal quality. If you cannot process immediately, store in the fridge.
